Remember back in July when I mentioned an investment in The Alkaline Water Company, Inc. (ticker: WTER)? Unfortunately that letter went feebly read—few noticed it when it published. And that’s rather a shame.
The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based proprietor of Alkaline88®, a premier 8.8 pH-balanced bottled alkaline drinking water enhanced with trace minerals and electrolytes, has upped its game since then, introducing to market its A88 Infused Beverage Division. Hemp plant-derived CBD infused Alkaline88® water (Cannabidiol, an active compound found in the cannabis [marijuana] plant. Although it is a cannabinoid like THC, CBD is non-psychoactive and does not provide the cerebral effects associated with THC) will make its market debut shortly.
On October 17, 2018, CBD will be legal throughout all of Canada and is already legal in the U.S. The Hemp Business Journal projects the worldwide CBD market will grow from $202 million in 2017 to $2.1 billion by 2020 to $3 billion by 2021. Consumer interest in CBD has risen to all-time highs as researchers explore the potential medical benefits of cannabidiol.
I bought shares of WTER months ago at $2.60 per. Yesterday the stock closed at $4.61 per. I will have doubled my investment in a matter of days. In addition, the company just announced it’s now selling on Walmart.com and Amazon.com, stretching beyond its grocery store brick/mortar distribution.
In your behalf and mine, I’m increasing our stock ownership count by 10,000 shares. The company also recently announced its application to list its stock on the NASDAQ exchange has been approved—deft move. The big pension funds, ETFs and hedge funds will then take ownership. And let’s not discount the possibility of a beverage behemoth like Coca-Cola or Pepsi sniffing around Alkaline88® for a potential takeover. All this news bodes extremely well for prospects of a much higher stock price going forward.
