“Her Autumn Nightbath”

No, no theatrics tonight, my sweet;
I’m hoping for rain,
No histrionics or romantic props
Come, let me explain:

No electricity tonight, my love;
I’m supplying all the wattage,
I’m your shadow in the darkness tonight
Welcome to my cottage

If there’s a virtue in simplicity
I intend to exhaust the possibility,
Absolutely no rush, shhh, we’re on the hush
A Pamper-Her-Friday trilogy . . .

. . . is in effect tonight, my angel
The wicks are on silent-slow burn,
The working world’s had you all week
However, tonight it’s my turn

You will call my name, woman, yes
You’ll whisper it like a soliloquy,
No other man has meaning
I want every cell of you into me

These hands, these so-gifted hands
are exclusive to your symmetry,
I know the pressure points and nerve centers
Supernatural is our chemistry

A nightbath, am I on the right path?
I’m using neither guile nor stealth,
Your skin’s glowing in the candlelight
I’m so good for your health

Lose yourself, simply lose yourself
in this luxurious autumn bathing,
Have you ever experienced pampering
so soothing and unscathing?

Go ahead, tilt your head at ease
I’ve curled the towel just so,
Perhaps you’d like hydro-acupuncture
to ensure all body systems go

Ah, yes, this remedy is like a symphony
as I play skin piano in the dark,
By the time the water turns luke
You’ll be calling me the Pampering Oligarch . . .

. . . up in here, the fireplace is so near
and we’ve got front-row seats,
I’ll make hot toddies to keep warm our bodies
and pull out the flannel sheets

And the most comfy sofa throws for heaven only knows
how good this Pamper-Her-Friday can be,
We won’t blame it on the toddies
It’s simply our autumn chemistry . . . .
