“I Can’t Do Autumn Without You”
I just, I can’t do autumn without you
Why is every fallen leaf a subtle reminder,
It was that lonesome fall a triple years ago
A self-promise I made to eventually find her
My favorite color happens to be October
Perhaps the foliage has something to do with it,
Not that other seasons render me an interloper
But with you in autumn, woman, my soul is lit
Notice the weather is angry with a terrible violence
God help California’s Napa and Sonoma Valley,
To Puerto Rico, with love, for you I pray in silence
It’s times like these that Harry is holding Sally
Just a little closer is my embrace in autumn
Would you like to nestle your palm inside my hand?
A lakeside walk among a trove of mustard trees
Leaf-ribbons float in lung-worthy air unplanned
I thought I could do autumn without you
But a caramel pumpkin latte deserves a twin,
October may just be your favorite color, too
Come, Pamper-Her-Friday is about to begin…
… in autumn.
