Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2® 216: A Pre-Summer Night’s Pampering: ‘Wine Cube Romance’

Champagne cubes

(Rated Rg2: For Ladies Only)

“Wine Cube Romance”

This summer-like spring, what,
95 degrees?
It’s time for panty relief . . .
and I refuse to say please

My Pamper-Her-Friday appetites
are bordering on animalistic,
to exert a smattering of pleasure-hurt
just short of masochistic

What, pulled hair is your request
locks lassoed around the palm,
a tense-sensual tug of war
a perfect storm before the calm

Get it out, let it out,
shout it out, scream my name,
you can curse both Monday and Tuesday
But it’s Thursday that’s to blame

For blocking the day of all days
midnight wouldn’t come soon enough,
footrub by morning, icetub by night
I’m prepared to call your bluff:

A stay of cessation, going, going
Hands will be plying nonstop,
Circular motions and surface potions
Thighs levitating from the top

Hang on, woman, you’d better hang on
Moans won’t keep to a minimum,
Once suspended in the moonlit air
between phantasm and delirium

Your dreamlike state, I’m tempting fate
the helpless closure of your eyes,
the rippling tingles won’t dissipate
they’ll linger stubbornly along the thighs

There you’ll lay, very little to say
a body devoid of its energy,
Which emollient might I select?
Spread your wings and let me see

This one’s fragrant, this one’s creamy
this one’s cool to the touch,
And this one is a skin awakener
To achieve the effect, it won’t take much

Enjoy, my Love, it’s pampering time
let your arms fall freely away,
I can feel your thoughts through the skin
Its delicate keys my hands will play

And champagne calls, the flutes are tall
I’ve added an element of pleasure chill,
Wine cubes of fun to foil the heat
a provocative dimension to the thrill

It’s pampering time, the pleasure is mine
The break of dawn is still hours away,
My performance you will call masterful
on this pre-summer Pamper-Her-Friday.

Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2® 215: The Pamperee Profiles by Rg2™ (16): ‘Precious Photo Moments with Josette’

Josette Holt Wyatt, Founder/Owner, In The Moment Portraiture

Josette Holt Wyatt, Founder/Owner, In The Moment Portraiture

“Precious Photo Moments with Josette”

*****************************************

Seems easy enough: Invest in top-notch, state-of-the-art camera equipment, encourage your subject to smile, and snap away. Easy, right? Uh, wrong. What about lighting? Angles? Posture? Background and landscape? Theme? And exposure and clarity and movement?

And what about the innate ability to make your clients feel comfortable, at ease in your presence? Even bringing a little comic relief to a tight, tense event such as a wedding?

Do yourself a huge favor and call Josette Holt Wyatt–photographer extraordinaire.

Her Fontana, Calif.-based In The Moment Portraiture professional photography business is the go-to “precious moments capturing” image taker/maker for any and all occasions and events. On the heels of its 10-year anniversary, In The Moment Portraiture has simply gotten better with each photo session and adventure, and Ms. Wyatt continues to treat each client as if hers are the very last photos they will take to truly honor those precious moments that will live into eternity.

“I love to capture what I call ‘in the moment’ shots, and that’s also one of the reasons why I named my business In The Moment Portraiture,” Josette recalls. “My mentors years ago, when I was first starting out, would say to me, ‘You love capturing those in the moment shots,’ the unrehearsed, genuine-emotion snapshots that revealingly tell a story.

“I realize all the snaps can’t be truly in-the-moment shots. So I do what I call semi-posed captures where I orchestrate the client into a certain posture but let it naturally fall into what it’s going to be. There’s a story there, in that moment, just the same. It just takes a little coaxing to help it unfold.”

In The Moment Portraiture’s portfolio is vast: Everybody loves weddings, graduations, and birthdays, but what about the day after? Josette’s The Day After shots are exquisite, fun, elegant and playful–however the couple’s feeling in that moment in time. What about boudoir shots for the lover in all of us? Josette’s got you covered. Youth sports shots? No problem. Family and kids? Head shots for seniors? Maternity/babies? Fashion or Period themes, such as Western, Egyptian, Supermodel or Rockstar? Special events? Or simply “A Day in Your Life” captures? And specialty items and albums? Josette’s at the ready with a keen, creative eye, a counselor’s temperament, and a whatever-it-takes-to-capture-your-perfect-moment personality that’s no less than endearing.

A session with Josette is simply life enhancing.

Her heartfelt approach to her work can be traced to the very genesis of the company. Like so many of us, Ms. Wyatt, back in the turn of the century, had been downsized from her corporate position by an evolving economy that was shedding jobs relentlessly. Unsure of her next move, she knew she had a knack for the human element and a yen for adventure with its attendant unpredictability. Photography would allow her to sate both cravings. And a business was born.

“I think the hardest part was figuring out how I was going to run a business when I had no prior experience at entrepreneurship,” she explains. “I was concerned about how I would get new potential clients and were they going to pay me to photograph their moments.”

With schooling, self-confidence, the backing of her family, and drawing upon her intrinsic people skills, Josette set upon her course and remained determined. Her advice to novice photographers and those with an interest is just as heartfelt and earnest: “If you’re serious about photography, please do a business plan. This will help you to see the big picture of your business and it helps a great deal with finances. Take your time to learn, improve and perfect your craft. Don’t be afraid of rejection. If it doesn’t work out the first time, revamp it and figure out how to make it work. And don’t be afraid to ask questions . . . you must have a hunger for knowledge.”

And to experience a true professional in action, set up a session with Josette and her In The Moment Portraiture.

I take pleasure in this precious moment to honor Josette Wyatt as this Pamper-Her-Friday’s special Pamperee for her life-enhancing work. And for making all her clients’ portraiture true works of art.

“The Rissi Revelation”

____________________

When “Jimmy Jam” Harris and Terry Lewis offered her a deal on their Flyte Tyme Records label at the tender age of 19 back in 2000, Rissi Palmer respectfully declined the proposal. The legendary Minnesota hits-making duo salivated over the ingénue’s throaty, butter-melting chops and camera-worthy looks but wanted to turn her “twangy” country style into a pop/soul hybrid.

Rissi listened to and followed her heart, unwilling to go astray of her passion.

Man, am I thrilled she did. So too will those Country music lovers–music lovers period!–across the globe who haven’t yet heard Ms. Palmer’s mesmerizing vocals and heart-written lyrics.

“I love R&B and urban music, but it wasn’t what I wanted to do,” says the Sewickley, Pennsylvania, native. “I knew I wouldn’t be happy doing that.” She would go on to sing jingles for “Barbie” commercials, perform on the “Dance Fever” TV show and compete on “Star Search,” toiling in relative obscurity for seven years in pursuit of a Nashville recording contract–honing her craft all the while.

Then, in 2006, fate had its say. Starbucks Entertainment distributed a four-song EP featuring Ms. Palmer that put her among the top five best-selling country artists on iTunes. Rissi’s debut album, “Rissi Palmer,” released in 2007 and on which she co-wrote nine of the 12 tracks, produced two chart singles in “Country Girl” and “Hold On to Me,” peaking at numbers 54 and 59, respectively, on the U.S. “Billboard” Hot Country Songs chart.

Two-thousand-eight saw her release a new single, a cover of Jordin Sparks’ and Chris Brown’s “No Air,” that debuted at number 58, eventually reaching number 47 and becoming her first Top 50 single on the Hot Country Songs chart. It was included on a reissue of her debut self-titled album later that year.

“Best Day Ever,” a “sophisticated” children’s album released in early 2013, met positive reviews with such nostalgia-inducing tracks as “Not Afraid of the Dark,” “You Could Be Dancing,” and “Be Me.” Describes Rissi: “The album’s a bridge between songs that are suitable and interesting to kids and entertaining to adults. It’s filled with songs from the perspective of a child–the simple yet profound things that make life the ‘best day ever’ for children in so many ways.” “Best Day Ever” is available now on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and all major digital music outlets.

Rissi’s currently writing and recording material for a new album with a sound that she describes as a “mixture of the country and soul music I grew up listening to.” “The Back Porch Sessions Vol. 1,” a five-song EP slated for summer release, is a project the inner workings of which Rissi is sharing with anyone who believes in her art and shares her passion: A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is underway with just nine days left to reach her goal of raising $16,000 to finance the album.

Just under 50% pledged as of this writing, April 27 is the target date for any and all music lovers and Rissi supporters to have pledged (invest) in the cause of truly inspirational, timeless music by one of Country’s most gifted artists.

“The Kickstarter campaign was something I thought about for a long time,” explains Ms. Palmer. “After seeing so many artists make albums this way, I decided it was the best way to take my career into my own hands. I think for the independent artist who is not wealthy, it’s the way to go. Everyone who supports you gets to take some ownership in your project and you have the financial freedom and retain creative control. It’s a win-win.” The project can be found at:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rissipalmer/executive-produce-my-new-album-the-back-porch-sess.

Asked who were some of her influences growing up, Rissi reeled off such industry luminaries as Patsy Cline, Phoebe Snow, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Wynona Judd, Patty Griffin and early Motown legends, William “Smokey” Robinson among them. “I feel like my sound is a mixture of all of those influences,” she reflects.

And as with any artist driven by their passion, creative or otherwise, I was curious what Ms. Palmer wants most from her career. “I simply want to be able to make music for the rest of my life. I want to grow as an artist/singer/writer, tour the world and put out songs for as long as possible,” she shares. “I don’t have to be a millionaire, but it’d be nice to make a little money to play with [smile].”

That’s a likely arrangement considering that velvety honest voice and the beautiful heart from which it springs. Country music has a gifted caretaker and worthy standard-bearer. And this Pamper-Her-Friday has a special Pamperee whom I’m privileged to honor: Ms. Rissi Palmer.

Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2® 213: The Pamperee Profiles by Rg2™ (14): ‘The Poetic Aura of Arkay’

Arkay Evans, Author, Poet, Mentor, Woman of Purpose

Arkay Evans, Author, Poet, Mentor, Woman of Purpose

“The Poetic Aura of Arkay”

________________________________

The beauty in highlighting the multi-facets and -talents of Pamper-Her-Friday Pamperees resides in being able to take poetic license in writing their fascinating stories. I could fudge. I could embellish. But what would be the point? Especially when the story’s as compelling as that of Arkay Evans. She not only takes poetic license to new heights in her work.

She may well be the license issuer.

The founder of RK Evans Communications, violinist since age five, professional mentor, and published author of two must-read poetry collections, Ms. Evans fuses poetry, prose, a voracious reading appetite, and a keen “innerstanding” of the human emotional spectrum for the foundation of her creative works and mentor blogging. Communication, work ethics, personal development/relationships, and smart living are among the topics that encompass her mentoring skill mix.

“My creative works run the gamut of human experience and imagination,” says the St. Louis-based bard. “The focus of my work is largely on practical application, how we’re all connected by love and stronger in the actualization of that unity.” As a poet, Arkay does readings for corporate, nonprofit, and private special events, including grand openings, trainings, workshops, weddings and ceremonies.

She also offers one-on-one and group counseling, as well as workshops on goal attainment for women and young adults. “Lots of positive reinforcement and work on cognitive behavioral alignment to produce results,” she explains. “If nothing changes, nothing changes. I teach that faith is a verb.”

Ms. Evans’s published works are “Christians Under Construction” and “A Woman of Purpose: Secure in Faith Through Difficult Times.” The books deal with personal relationships, divine connection, and truths that are often blocked by the lies we tell ourselves.

Shares Arkay: “We are all parts of the same whole. It’s quite a job to get out of your own head to share positive energy in poetry without obstruction, but there is just nothing like seeing that spark come alive in the unsmiling eye. There is great power in the pen, and I aim each day to be a better steward.”

“A Woman of Purpose” has been published as an ebook and is currently available on smashwords.com. The paperback is being published by Canada-based Soul Asylum Publishing. “A Woman of Purpose” has also been developed as a spoken word audio book. Arkay’s next project, as yet unnamed, is a collection and audio book of soulful poetry on the maintenance of long-term love, romance and sensuality—combining her creative work with her love of music, bringing a new dimension to her craft.

Ms. Evans will be performing readings this Sunday, April 13, to celebrate the grand opening of The Nile Garden Bookstore in the African American Museum of Beginnings in Pomona, Calif., from 1 to 5 p.m. Attendees can expect a thought-provoking if not awakening performance from one of the spoken-word craft’s very best.

Because you represent the very essence of a Pamper-Her-Friday Pamperee, Arkay, it is my privilege to honor you and your life-enhancing creative work in behalf of the countless people you continue to touch all over the world. A difference-maker you are.

Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2® 212: ‘What’s Pamper-Her-Friday Got to Do With It?’ A Confidential Love Letter Like No Other

Airgliding together

(Prelude to His Romance Manifesto 6: For Men Only)

________________________________________________

Dearest ___________ ,

We’re expendable.

Men.

Expendable in war. Expendable to the economy. Expendable to women.
It follows: Next man up.

Keep it moving. Sorta like the assembly line. Something like the new smartphone that’s only months away from an upgrade, a replacement.

I’ve come to terms not only with my mortality, but so too with my expendability–to you. There are no hard feelings, no harsh sentiments harbored, stowed away somewhere in my deeper being. I’ve come to grips.

I’ve never run astray from the truth, never run afoul of the laws of loving a woman: 1) Do no harm;
2) Give, love, but be prepared for its loss; and
3) Enjoy with a kid-at-heart fervor her company . . . in the moments. But enjoy your own just the same. Just in case.

The just-in-case comes more frequently nowadays. Because we men are expendable.

Notice I didn’t say ‘love’ is expendable.

For all its faults, perceived or real, aches and pains and highs and lows, love isn’t a throw-away. Unless you can extricate your very heart from your chest and throw it away, discard it to the refuse pile that continues to litter ever more what our beautiful Earth once was.

What’s love got to do with it? In the trenches, everything.

When you turn the lamplight off to signal night’s end–with the same damn work routine awaiting you the next morning–love lying, breathing next to you has meaning. Perhaps it’s not needed at each bedtime–once a week maybe, twice a month maybe. But when there, and true, bar none, love is ultra-good.

That phone call, out of the blue, “Meet me for lunch at your fave bistro, my treat?”
Nothing expendable there. If I weren’t sitting in the chair across the table from you, it’s not the same. Sure, next man up.

But it’s a totally different conversation. The look in your eyes is different. Your laugh has a different pitch. Sure, I’m expendable–I don’t own the restaurant chair.

But the love? Is it there when my presence is not? Yes, I’m expendable. But what of the love?

Remember when I suggested we try balloon airgliding at sunset, both of us nervous (you more than I) at the prospect so high above water? You clutched my hand the whole while.

Sure enough, you can glide with another as the whim hits you.

But whose hand will yours remember? Especially on Pamper-Her-Friday?

Yes, I’m expendable. But the feeling is not.

What’s love got to do with it?

In the trenches, everything.

Deeply,
Rg2

Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2® 211: The Pamperee Profiles by Rg2™ (13): ‘Debt-Proof Living according to Mary’

Mary Hunt, Founder, Debt-Proof Living & Everyday Cheapskate

Mary Hunt, Founder, Debt-Proof Living & Everyday Cheapskate

“Debt-Proof Living according to Mary”

This is what life has come to for a great many of us: We’re either trying to get rich . . . or slowly–perhaps quickly–dying trying.Whether it’s the celebrity on TV whose lifestyle sparks our envy, the neighbor across the street with the new Audi A6, the gotta-have-it-now new tech gadget, or that college loan that will seemingly forever be the financial noose around our necks, we’re perpetually chasing spend-now-worry-later nirvana.

Americans are top spenders and bottom savers. We have the household “imbalance” statements to prove it.

Mary Hunt says it doesn’t have to be that way. Her Debt-Proof Living (DPL) organization makes a powerfully persuasive case. Mary’s enterprise comprises an interactive website, a monthly newsletter, a daily syndicated column, and hundreds of thousands of loyal followers whose financial lives–and by turn qualities of life–have and continue to improve thanks to her commonsensical credo and consistent teachings: Consumer debt is deadly.

An award-winning and bestselling author, syndicated columnist, and sought-after motivational speaker, Mary has created a global platform that is making strides to help men and women battle the epidemic impact of consumer debt. Now in its twentieth year, DPL is dedicated to its mission to provide hope, help and realistic solutions for individuals who are committed to financially responsible and debt-free living.

In Mary’s world, being called a cheapskate has anything but a negative connotation. Her Everyday Cheapskate (EC) innovation is a daily email, via subscription, from the money-saving expert through which she writes about ways to save money on a tight budget. It’s free to sign up and the information is priceless.

Are you one paycheck away from financial catastrophe? One missed credit card payment away from FICO ruin? What about living beyond your means?

Has your fragile budget reached the very last stitch of its constantly stretched elasticity? You’re certainly not alone.

Mary’s been there–mired in debt fear, anxiety and helplessness. And she’s committed her life to debt-proof discipline and, even more, sharing her knowledge to enhance the lives of others.

This Pamper-Her-Friday’s Pamperee? It’s a no-brainer: Mary Hunt. I take pleasure in acknowledging the invaluable work of one of the web’s most worthy difference-makers. This writer’s a Debt-Proof Living disciple.

Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2® 210: Goodbye, Pamper-Her-Friday? Silicon Valley Venture Capital Group Makes Offer for Rg2 Trademarks/Anthology: An Emotional Love Letter

Logo 1

________________________________________

My Sweet,
They want to buy Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2. And license Romance by Rg2.

A venture capital group from the bay area has set its sights on my trademarks. Who knew . . . Silicon Valley has a vested interest in romance—the way I’ve been doing it.

I received the proposal this morning. No bones made. They’re offering eight figures for the out and out rights to Pamper-Her-Friday. And they’re amenable to licensing Romance by Rg2 instead of a complete, final sale.

When I inquired why they wanted PHF cleanly but were open to a strategic partnership on Romance by Rg2, the majority investor explained that Pamper-Her-Friday would be easier to market under various umbrellas (products, services, holiday themes, etc.) without need of my proprietary creativity/writing.

He mentioned Romance by Rg2 was much more an exclusive product of my hand- and mind-print—it would be next to impossible to hire a romance writer with my unique voice to assume the role. “We couldn’t hire ‘authenticity,'” he said.

So I would keep the copyrights/trademark rights to Romance by Rg2 and take royalties while they would get a cut on all literary and peripheral merchandise.

Fair enough on that score.

But parting completely with Pamper-Her-Friday, Love? Gosh, my heart is aching as I write this.

Everything’s for sale in America. Every man (and woman) has his price, right?

I founded Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2–the concept, the vision–on a pre-dawn Friday, roughly 2-ish a.m., no one but me and my laptop, a glass of Irish cream on ice . . . and thoughts and recollections of all the women who’d graced my life to that point. The hurts, the rejections, the loves won and lost, the mothers and daughters and aunts and singles who deserved to be made to feel special despite the reality of their lives.

My father and mother the birthers, the guiders of everything I ever wrote.

Out of thin air, from the ground up, void of a blueprint, part imagination/part experiment/part experience/all raw, unadulterated, share-it-with-the-world-without-fear heartspill: Pamper-Her-Friday.

Damn, someone’s been reading, watching and noticing after all. I always knew you were, but you care about me, your interest was requisite—at least in my heart of hearts. Realistically, my dream was not your dream. I’ve always understood that. That’s why I never made demands on your attention, your assistance, your time in my endeavor.

But you gave. Because you believed.

I don’t want to part with Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2. But as I contemplate the offer, some kind of clarity comes to my mind: It was always my intent to share PHF with the world, globally, as if it wasn’t ever truly mine to begin with, but a gift to the world, for people of all persuasions to indulge, interpret, revel and share in what it means to them and their lives.

This moneyed group has the resources to truly take it global, which was always my vision from its origins.

My only reluctance? I remember Mark Zuckerberg responding to the question why he never sold facebook when companies like Microsoft and other behemoths were offering huge sums. His answer: “I may not have another idea as great as facebook.”

As much as that was a business answer, there was emotion therewith also.

Pamper-Her-Friday is an emotional concept, no doubt. Perhaps more emotion than business/commercial plan, you know?

I can do a helluva lot with 8 figures, Love. Re-retire my mother. Set up the foundation (a long-time dream), continue my Warren Buffett investments, though on a much much larger scale!, treasuries/bonds investments well into the coming decades, water rights . . . hell, innovate new ideas and technologies with my Rg2 romance theme as the foundation of each.

And take care of you for as long as air and life emanate from your very lungs, woman.

I fell to my knees on receipt of the proposal. My eyes, I’m not ashamed to reveal, teared like rivers in mid-stream. Not because I thought God would ever forsake me.

But because my work has not been in vain. My living indeed has meaning after all.

I’ve a few days to ruminate on all of this, Love. I need them. Even more, I need you to come into my space. I want to hear all your thoughts, your questions, your concerns regarding all of this.

I need your mind, heart and soul tonight.

It’s Pamper-Her-Friday, Love. Its meaning will never be for sale because it’s priceless.

Just as what we share.

Eternally,
Rg2

Pamper-Her-Friday by Rg2® 209: The Pamperee Profiles by Rg2™ (12): ‘Enter Nadine’s World’

Haircare Entrepreneur Ms. Nadine Branch, "Hair Doc"

“Enter Nadine’s World”

__________________________

Hair can be a messy business, a challenging business. Ask any stylist or haircare specialist. Chemicals. Ever-evolving trends and styles. Finicky clients with fussy attitudes and their miracle-worker expectations.

There’s even an element of risk for clients who entrust their “mane beauty” to someone else. But as the billionaire Warren Buffett once said, “Risk is when you don’t know what you’re doing.”

Nadine Branch knows what she’s doing. In fact, she’s been doing it for more than 30 years: Wash-blow-go; cut-color-texture; chemical straightening treatments from California Smooth to Keratin Complex to Japanese Straightener to Amino Acid treatments et al.; one-on-one client and group consultations; beauty school lectures; webinars and education classes–all the while educating her clients on hair health/maintenance techniques that are tried, true and proven over her illustrious career.

What distinguishes Nadine–known in the industry as the “Hair Doc”–from the countless other hair stylists, artists and specialists in the market? She has fun “Dancing with her tools!” More than a catchy marketing slogan, Dance with Your Tools™ (www.dancewithyourtools.com) is Nadine’s registered trademark and philosophy in action. It exemplifies the method and craft with which she infuses her work.

Nadine has made an art form the craft of using Marcel Thermal Tools on her clients’ hair textures for maximum health, style, and maintenance that complements their cuticles, facial forms/profiles, personalities, confidence and, yes, attitude!

The Hair Doc is an expert on stylist manners and etiquette, with emphasis on styling hair of all textures–inclusive of all cultures and races, from African American hair to Anglo to Latino to Asian textures and densities. She is highly effective in helping her industry peers diversify their styling and customer service skills and not limit themselves to any one particular type of hair or ethnic client.

But just as she seeks to educate her clients, Nadine is eager to learn from them as well. “My clients have taught me valuable lessons about the human element of customer service . . . how treating them with the utmost respect and listening to their special needs is as much a part of their satisfaction as a great hair care experience,” she shares.

Keeping up with hair care/styling trends also means keeping up with today’s–and tomorrow’s–technologies that benefit her clients and their convenience. Thus the new Nadine’s World app is now available to download from both the iTunes and Android app stores. Nadine can also take appointments via the StyleSeat app and StyleSeat.com, a time-saving beauty appointment site on the web.

Enter Nadine’s World and experience the transformation you’ve always felt you deserved–today!–at the hands of one of the industry’s most gifted experts. Nadine, it’s my pleasure to honor you as this Pamper-Her-Friday’s Pamperee for your invaluable contributions to the beauty industry.

Romance by Rg2®: Goodbye, Winter: A Love Letter

Champagne bath

(Rated Rg2: Women Readers Only)

My Love,

Remember when I discovered your birthmark . . . in the far reaches of your bodily hinterlands?

It was a cold, chilly, hazy night. The dead of winter. I promised to relieve you of all shivers and quivers. My gentle methods proved effective, no?

I planted prolonged kisses upon and around that distinctive dermal marker. The fire I’d created in the hearth had just reached mid-flame, hitting its warm-the-room stride, lights silenced, the only electricity generated sourced from our touch-so-much duality.

Chemistry . . . in the dead of winter.

The outdoors frigid. The indoors rigid–in all the right places, at all the right moments.

You didn’t need me. Your self-sufficiency is legendary.

But you wanted me. In the dead of winter. Hearth aflame. Emotions inflamed. Mutual blame . . . leaves neither of us culpable to regret-making.

Second-guessing is for the foolish. Winter was calling. Was my methodology appalling? Or exceptionally enthralling?

I searched.

And discovered . . . a hidden treasure in the far reaches of your epidermal hinterlands. I promised not to reveal to anyone outside of ourselves my discovery. A fierce promise keeper, I.

The dead of winter is saying its goodbyes, my love.

But I can’t.

It’s Pamper-Her-Friday. And I’m in the mood for rediscovery. With an eye toward spring.

The setting will be different tonight. The hinterlands are now the eden oasis of pre-spring. With champagne on ice.

My own birthmark is in need of a finder–tonight. You will be its keeper.

Goodbye, winter.

It’s Pamper-Her-Friday, Love. Tonight.

Tenderly,
Rg2

“Calling Dr. Willis, The Smile Restorer”

___________________________________

Is it much of a stretch to say that most of us don’t exactly look forward to going in for dental work? But what if the promise of attractive teeth and an enhanced smile is coupled, no less, with an equally attractive orthodontist?

I’d eagerly make an appointment with Allena Willis Kennerly, DMD—superficial reasons aside.

Her mission: Social justice through dental public health.
Her Platform: Periodontal Disease Awareness.

One of the dental profession’s most ardent family dental health advocates and among its most passionate orthodontics specialists, Dr. Willis is founder and owner of Smashing Smiles Orthodontics, located in the heart of Washington, D.C.

“What distinguishes us from other orthodontic practices is that we treat people with chronic headaches and migraines using the TruDenta system. We’re the only provider of this service in the District of Columbia,” she emphasizes. “It’s amazing because it works. I’m currently in treatment myself for long-term chronic pain to my TMJ [chronic jaw joint/facial muscle pain].”

Smashing Smiles also is a Premier Provider for Invisalign–clear aligners that are an alternative to metal braces for adults, kids, and teens–an honor designation that only 5% of practicing orthodontics hold.

Mrs. Kennerly’s passion for dentistry stems from her involvement in a near-fatal car accident at the age of seven. The shattered glass shards damaged her left eye, left index and middle fingers, and dislocated her lower jaw. “Unfortunately it took a toll on my self-esteem and -image,” she opens up. “My parents made certain that I had the best pediatric plastic surgeon, ophthalmologist, and orthodontist to make me whole again.

“I wore braces from age 13 to 16, never feeling beautiful like the other women in my family. I still remember looking in the mirror for the very first time after having my braces removed and feeling a sense of pride and joy that was so overwhelming. I knew then that I wanted to make other people feel that way.” Hence, the orthodontics profession would soon welcome one of its brightest stars.

And so will the Mrs. DC America Pageant (MDCAP) on March 8.

Mrs. Kennerly will compete with a slate of her peers in the preliminary regional pageant for the opportunity to participate in the Mrs. America pageant. At the Mrs. America pageant, 51 women compete for the coveted title of Mrs. America, who will then move on to the Mrs. World pageant.

The Mrs. DC America organization promotes married women, 18 and over, living or working within 25 miles of D.C., who’ve made personal, professional and community achievements.

“I highly recommend the pageant for married women because it represents the strength of women in marriage, family, community and business,” Allena shares. “It recognizes the importance of balancing family and professional responsibilities.” The pageant will also provide an influential opportunity to promote her platform: Periodontal Disease Awareness.

As a Mrs. DC America entrant, Mrs. Kennerly reps the Mrs. Logan Circle 2014 moniker, a reference to the neighborhood she chose upon admittance to the competition. Logan Circle is of historical significance–it is one of the first homes to freed slaves from Virginia and Maryland during the Civil War, of original architecture, as well as one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in D.C.

The symbolism is in no way lost on her: “So many people paid a price so that I can be free to shine my light to the world.”

Indeed.

And it’s that very humility, that never-forget deference to our forebears and their sacrifice, Dr. Willis, that so inspires me to honor you as this Pamper-Her-Friday’s Pamperee. In pageantry, in business, in the community . . . in life, you’re a supreme difference-maker.
